I don’t really care about Odyssey discourse. Hollywood is dead. The racial component is transparent and predictable at this point. But one reason everything feels so stagnant is that the most mediocre, unmemorable people seem to get ahead on the strength of artificial, behind the scenes string pulling. It’s not that Travis Scott and Lupita Nyongo are black, it’s that they’re… BORING!
The most interesting films right now aren’t in theaters. They’re on YouTube. No studios, no suits, no rules. Just chaos, loneliness, and a new kind of auteur using the internet as their camera pen.

“To live in the world but outside of existing conceptions of it,” Steven writes, and also: “In the presence of extraordinary actuality, consciousness takes the place of imagination.”
In the accents of our own voice Wallace Stevens, the legitimate heir of these aspirations, says of poetry that it is “a present perfecting, a satisfaction in the irremediable poverty of life.”
And out of what one sees and hears and out
Of what one feels, who could have thought to make
So many selves, so many sensuous worlds,
As if the air, the mid-day air, was swarming
With the metaphysical changes that occur,
Merely in living as and where we live.

Partly sunny skies return, but it's windy and cold with high temperatures barely reaching the mid 40s and a consistent northwest breeze. Fake spring was indeed fake. The vibes are chilly out there again today!
Do you understand how significant this is?
The Chinese government realized the stories that made the West has given the West a massive civilizational advantage.
But since the postmodern West largely abandoned those stories, the Chinese see an opportunity.
If they could build upon the wisdom of those stories while we deconstruct them, they believe they can gain a civilizational advantage.
lots of middle-aged men who think big pants make you look old bc that's what old people wore, so they switched to slim fit pants in the early 2000s, not realizing that slim fit pants makes you look old in 2026 bc they are now the out-of-touch old person in 20 yr old fashion

More filmmakers should get in the headspace of creating because they can.
Not for awards.
Not to “prove” a concept.
Not for distribution deals.
Not to make money.
Creating because your creativity deserves space to thrive.
