@Jeff_Baumgarten @SeaUsStache Cabby’s hitting numbers won’t stay that good, but he’s a menace on the basepaths and a great fielder. I agree, wish we still had him.
But, on the flip side, there’s a whole slew of middle infielders in Tacoma with that same profile.
@Jeff_Baumgarten @SeaUsStache Yeah I miss Cabby, the other three though, I’ll pass.
And who knows, if Luke Raley goes 3 for 4 today I’ll probably feel good about that trade too. Such a small sample size. People are overreacting.
@SeaUsStache I miss Cabby. But the Fraley deal was years ago. I’ll pass on the other two. Last thing this team needs is 40 more strikeouts from 2 players.
@shannondrayer@ArchdukeCollins What he’s not getting is that Ty and Teo are both better hitters than Canha, and Kelenic will be back on September.
Why the hell would we trade a prospect for 20ish games of Mark Canha when he’s not as good as the players he’d be replacing?

One of these pitchers is Sandy Kaufax. The other is Felix Hernandez through 12 seasons.

@jhyneman79@RussellHartness@Mariners “Just hit the ball like the greatest hitter in Mariners’ history, MLB Hall of Famer Edgar Martinez, who has both a street, *and* the Designated Hitter of the Year award named after him,” is a HUGE ask, my friend.
@shannondrayer@Scottvh24@BrentStecker This explanation always seemed sus to me.
Like, c’mon, let’s be real: they wanted Haniger back to fill the part time DH role, but they didn’t get him, and then nobody was brought in to fill that role.
They knew they needed another bat. They just didn’t get one.
