The previous Nazis used the exact same playbook.
Listen carefully to the language used here by the occupiers: Ukrainian books and school textbooks are described as “propaganda,” their history as “distorted,” and officials boast that this literature has now been seized from the “liberated territories.”
This is not some new invention. Destroying or removing a conquered population’s books, language, history and educational system is one of the oldest tools of forced assimilation.
Nazi Germany used precisely this method in occupied Europe.
After invading Poland in 1939, the Nazis systematically attacked Polish culture and education. Polish schools and cultural institutions were closed or Germanized, teachers and intellectuals were persecuted, libraries were confiscated, and huge quantities of Polish books were removed or destroyed.
In occupied Pomerania, Nazi governor Albert Forster made the objective explicit: Polish newspapers, Polish books, Polish education and the Polish language were to be “completely and brutally eradicated.”
The Nazis confiscated entire Polish library collections. Around 48,000 volumes were taken from the Polish Sejm Library alone and shipped to Germany. Newspapers and periodicals were burned or pulped. In Greater Poland, the collections of more than 360 Polish People’s Libraries were confiscated, with large quantities of books subsequently destroyed.
The same happened elsewhere. In German-occupied Slovenia, Slovene was removed from schools and public life, Slovene books were removed from libraries or burned, and German books were brought in as part of the Germanization campaign.
And before the war, inside Germany itself, the Nazis famously raided libraries and burned tens of thousands of books they branded “un-German.”
Now look at occupied parts of Ukraine.
The UN has documented Russian authorities seizing Ukrainian textbooks and literature, removing Ukrainian-language books from schools and public libraries, replacing the Ukrainian curriculum with the Russian one, and introducing history textbooks that deny or distort Ukraine’s independent national identity.
Human Rights Watch has documented Ukrainian books being seized and in some places burned, while Russian textbooks were brought in to replace them.
Different century. Different regime. Same basic occupation technique:
Declare the conquered nation’s history “fake.”
Call its literature “propaganda.”
Remove its books.
Replace its textbooks.
Suppress its language.
Teach the occupier’s version of history instead.
You don’t erase a nation only by taking its territory. You try to erase its memory too.
This is why we are in NATO.
-russian Lavrov:
"Russia will continue the war against Ukraine until its territorial demands are met."
🙄🤦♀️
............
What is he talking about?!
Putin signed the agreement defining Ukraine's borders at a time when Ukraine had surrendered the nuclear weapons located on its territory.
The borders are also clearly defined in the Ukrainian Constitution.
Russia has absolutely no legal standing in this matter!
So?!..🤷♀️
russians destroyed my street.
My home.
My land.
But they couldn’t destroy my voice.
I wake up every morning in Ukraine and keep speaking.
And that’s why I win every morning🇺🇦
Someone explain to this orange 🤡 that the war can only be ended by the aggressor — the Russians just need to withdraw, and the war will be over immediately.
I'd advise against making friends in Ukraine, you then spend most of your time worrying about them, especially when russian terrorists are sending bombs into their district, all russia knows how to do is kill civilians.
Please all pray for Kyiv right now.
