Haven’t played the Arena Open in awhile, but I’m really enjoying DFT, so I gave it a shot. Got to Day 2 on second bullet with Rakdos Start Your Engines. Took what the pool gave me and it was juuuust enough. @fireshoes
@Chord_O_Calls I think it’s because the format - when drafted competitively - is a little less overpowered than we’re used to these days, which actually makes for a more sill-testing, and thereby fun format, at least for me.
And the likely winner for jankiest and probably most fun 🏆 of the format: UR Tempo Bounce Mill. Beat Naya, BG, and Mono-Green with all but one win coming via decking. Is that an achievement? @LordsofLimited@Chord_O_Calls
Time to adjust your priors. Limited is flooded with meh Green decks. Either you need to splash more aggressively to get more powerful cards or just take advantage of slow, weaker decks by going for a streamlined synergistic deck even if it is GASP! Boros @fireshoes@Chord_O_Calls
Followed a bit of a cold streak with a fun Esper Artifacts 🏆. My latest hot take is that when put in well built decks, Aether Syphon is one of the best uncommons in DFT. @fireshoes
Loving this format so far. These are from my third and fourth 🏆. One reason I think it’s been such fun is that a lot of the signposts and multicolor rares are largely unhelpful as splashes so you are really rewarded for finding the right lane. @fireshoes@LordsofLimited
Messy decks can be fun, but I'm a sucker for a clean streamlined deck. I think this UB deck is exactly what you're supposed to be doing in this format and it cruised to the 3-0.
@fireshoes
Haven't had time to post much lately but had to share this FDN beauty that lived the Demon into Demon into Muldrotha dream a couple times en route to the trophy. @fireshoes
And two more 🏆s to close things out for a total of eight in the week. Goodbye Ikoria. The only format ever that I believe I truly 'solved.' Looking forward to MH3! @fireshoes
After a salty 2-2 in the morning Open Draft (mana screw..grr), went back to Ikoria this evening for a sweet rare+mythic+uncommon-filled reanimation deck that was incredibly fun to play. After RB, BG is my favorite deck in Ikoria when it comes together. @fireshoes@limiteddecks
@Goopile@limiteddecks@fireshoes Lol, that’s an aggressive splash on the Crasher, but totally agree can’t leave that in the board strictly due to fun reasons. 😂
Ikoria is still my jam. Another 🏆with BG beat down/reanimate. One good way to beat cycling is to save removal for snare tacticians and keep putting big bodies on the board. Beat two cycling decks (and lost to one) this go around. @limiteddecks@fireshoes
This was fun but this deck shouldn't happen. Please don't pass Zenith Flares P7. Please speculate more on the one mana cyclers. It is no fun to play against these decks and the format is much better when they're contested and you don't face unbeatable RW. @limiteddecks@fireshoes
Welcome back to Ikoria! Where you get P1P5 Zenith Flare and 🏆 first draft with a deck that never comes close to losing a game. Reminder folks: don’t pass Zenith Flare if you can at all avoid it, and take 1-mana cyclers aggressively so that unfair decks like this cannot exist!
Nice break from OTJ with Quintessential THB BG. Escape all game long and try not to deck. Both losses were to mana screw, but this is a common-heavy archetype that dominates. @limiteddecks@fireshoes
@ksoekfmvmck@SaffronOlive I think the rummager and grave expectations are fine. I think the Aven is an extremely strong uncommon but no ETB means it can be dealt with. Grenzo is busted but at least it’s a rare (and there are a couple nasty Alchemy rates as well as main set).
