NIGERIA RECORDED MORE CONFLICT FATALITIES IN 2025 THAN AT THE PEAK OF BOKO HARAM

2014 — 11,346 fatalities
2025 — 11,968 fatalities

Nigeria recorded 622 more conflict fatalities in 2025 than during the defined height of the Boko Haram insurgency.

In 2014, at the peak of Boko Haram, Nigeria recorded about 31 conflict fatalities per day.

By 2025, that number rose to nearly 33 deaths per day.

That translates to one reported fatality roughly every 44 minutes, a persistent daily bleed that outpaces the most notorious year of Boko Haram insurgency.
