@Timcast The possible issue stems from the fact that users in the past would use those items in gambling sites as collateral. These skins can be worth up to $10k in value. Valve has cracked down and created road blocks to stop these gambling sites and have banned millions of accounts.

@Timcast The connection to the TCG and Valve’s crates/cases is that the items in them can be traded to other users on the platform or sold for steam funds on the community market. This parallels the TCG as one can buy a packet then either trade those cards or sell them.
