The three horsemen:
When is it finally gonna release?
Wait... why is it so expensive? Not gonna buy this crap.
Why can't I get one?
In that order. Every. Damn. Time.
Bunch of hypocrites ๐คก

Gotta love the s& box situation.
Devs not blocking "AI slop": "Devs don't care about gen AI ruining the game"
Devs if they would block: "Devs censor our creations because they don't like what we do with it"
Black and white opinions and hating both sides, classic.
@SnazzyLabs Ngl, we all hate it but deal with it. But also: I was in England for a few days (they don't have it) and I cannot remember what to do with the lid when I want to drink... and I never thought the attached lid has any upsides.
@GotuDave@SynthPotato Do you have any idea how complex creating a proprietary engine is? You think anyone has the time or money to make engines fitting a single (type) of games by one dev?
@SAHtoshiDude@SynthPotato It has dramatically improved from 5.0 to today's 5.6. But if you were already unsure how to use early versions how could you already optimize for 5.6? Also... these games are out and if there was no engine update along the line, there is no way knowing what the recent UE is like.
@SynthPotato Gamers these days also know for a fact that e.g. Raytracing comes at a substantial performance cost, but still somehow there are people that are like "how does UE5 run that badly" although it's a whole different level. But also the visual fidelity is a whole different level.
@SynthPotato The thing here is: Unreal 5 is an insanely strong engine when you think about what MASSES of detail can be put into the world. But it all comes with new tech how stuff is processed and that takes time to learn and optimize. With every engine update the base level becomes better.
@SynthPotato That being said, you can already achieve incredible results with no specific additional knowledge, but it's nowhere near "just put in whatever and it will run perfectly", but its tools and features become better and better every update and devs become smarter every day.
Finally the day I can share an issue that sounds so weird (now imagine that years ago):
My mouse didn't work at all, so I plugged in my spare one to find out that the software managing my mouse made my mouse pad unresponsive.
