@Pyrrhixz I think the way inherits’ deaths were handled was done well, and that this wasn’t a “people don’t think this story has stakes, let’s kill off playable characters.” Not everyone is going to have plot armor, the final battle was here and it was a high stakes situation.

@Pyrrhixz I can get being upset because players want to see their favorite character get more involvement in the story, alts, outfits, etc. seeing arguments that “this is a waifu collector, and you’re killing my waifus” however, makes no sense to me, and that’s where I take issue.

After seeing all the posts criticizing #NIKKE story for the choice to sacrifice Inherit, I thought I’d throw my hat in the ring.

Let’s take a look at the circumstances of this situation. Eden is combating against the literal “Final Boss” of NIKKEs world. This isn’t a normal encounter, it’s what Eden and Pioneer have spent years preparing for. The point of this battle was to win; however, NIKKEs story doesn’t pull punches with sequences like this.

Realistically, it would’ve been more unbelievable for everyone to make it out alive. Inherit had always fought for themselves and to defend their home, but in these critical moments they accepted they were a part of something greater.

They’d inherited immense power and had used it selfishly for so long, but their sacrifice was something more selfless than selfish. This isn’t “misery cope” or “a boring cop out” it’s the reality of NIKKEs world.

For our story as the commander to continue, sacrifices must be made. Death EXISTS in this story, it just normally isn’t from our main cast.

If this story doesn’t fit you because the writers chose to show the reality of their world, then this story may not be for you. That’s perfectly fine.

Don’t disregard the effort SU has made just because of that difference in choice.
