Could you not see why so many Iranians have such deep distaste for the Islamic Republic? Their total failures on the economic front, the endless mismanagement, corruption, and the suffocating rule of the clerics have tanked its popularity to the point where huge parts of the population want it overthrown, even if its not as large as those who wish fan the flames, and that’s not just from some liberal view it holds even from a hard rightwing or militaristic view as well.
In regards to exiting the npt, I find that one hard to justify, even given the iaea duplicity, given the difficulties in one developing a warhead and the then being able to miniaturise and be able to produce them at scale to be a viable deterrence.
Regarding China, relying exclusively on a single partner for development would be imprudent. The priority should be to obtain meaningful technology transfers and mentorship programs that foster long-term domestic expertise that sole dependence on china inhibit fruitful.
@Slezkinite Laws for thee but not for me, international law wasn't important in the 80s when it came to selling precursors to saddam for his chemical weapons
@Slezkinite@RuinsMan@SlavlandStalker What are the historical and cultural meanings of ‘Iran’ and 'persia'? How do they differ, and is persia a subset of iran, its predecessor, or just another name for the same civilization? To what extent have their meanings diverged over time, and are they irreconcilable?
@kellyenz Apologies for the flippant joke, it was in poor taste. Just an attempt to make fun of such slogans like ‘brought to heel’ or in reverse ‘stand with Israel no matter what’ to shut down serious discussion of how actions and reactions are playing out.
@Slezkinite@EMichaelJones1 How do people justify claiming or believe Iran is the “top funder of terrorism” or would use nukes immediately if it got one? Evidence, bias, ignorance or misinformation? And why is US support for Iraq’s chemical program in the 80s rarely discussed or used?
@Slezkinite@GeromanAT I know there are no good alternatives that won't sell the country out, but why would you as an Iranian shed tears for those whose leadership and mismanagement of Iran's economy/defences brought ruin to the country and themselves? They're the sort to send teenagers over minefield
