My brother’s wife stopped making breakfast for my mum since last month and it is causing issues in the family.

She gave birth 2 months ago and stayed with her parents after delivery. When she returned home last month, my mum went to help with the baby. But I was later told she stopped giving my mum breakfast since end of April.

I called her and she said if making breakfast is the only thing my mum can do for herself, then it shouldn’t be too much. She also said if someone can’t help her, the person shouldn’t add to her burden.

Honestly, I’m trying to understand both sides because I expected my mum to help with the baby too. My brother is not handling the situation well and family meetings have been called twice already.

I don’t want to look like a bad brother-in-law, I just want to be fair. I’m outside the country so I can’t visit them. What can I do?”
