@masssdiiim @Pirat_Nation The new Pokemon generation could be 2 identical, text-only, count-up clicker games with no other features, with the same 4-hour return guarantee as Steam, and they'd still push out 10,000,000 unreturned copies at full price.
@masssdiiim @Pirat_Nation It's mostly ignored by the people who either make stupid money pretty much no matter what, or by people who don't really care if their game is in a niche market or if it gets all that popular.
...But of course, 99% of the visible gaming market is the former, so.
@DerbaumLuk37729@richter_h_@Pirat_Nation I think they meant "end goal" like instead of making a game you would like, marketing it, putting it out there, and having a lot of people enjoy it, or make a lot of money so you can either keep making games or just cash out.
But no, people won't talk about just -any- good game.
@slstdv@Pirat_Nation There are 10,000s of amazing games you've never heard of.
It -is- a clusterfuck. There's less "Good things sell good" guarantee than ever.
Heck, a year ago this week, Oblivion Remastered famously killed dozens of good games by falling from the sky suddenly.
It ain't about talent.
@DUSKdev It's simple: Get 10-200 of your closest friends and a big-to-massive sum of your closest dollars together and make something popular ? years from now in a market where things that go viral Friday are cringe by Monday.
Marketing? Royalties? Licensing? Years of learning? What that?
@LeGavoIsHere@arthurmorganbab Next reply "He has a power he uses all the time where all it does is repair specifically the Great Wall of China, Superman never cared about America at all"
@Stanley5574420 Anyone who's seen the "Amount earned" stats for achievements in games knows that 5% of players is basically a third of the ones that ever actually finish the game.
@M0NDR12@fw_naetoblaq I still remember the posts where they were hijacking usernames like X, XNews, and XData, and people were challenging them to hijack XVideos' handle next.
@thegrayfruit@xaviersonline_ With how long he's been going, there's zero chance it isn't this.
But enough people will always not think of that to make this stuff do rounds again.
@0ba0sama Eh. I would say mouthwash.
"Liscopest Refresh now comes in Spicy Cinnamon, and classic Cool Mint. And still without the added burn of alcohol."
...Or this, for the tornado bit at the start:
@KingSpartaX37 Would love to see every indie game coming out just have an Easter egg now where there's like a 1/255 chance a loading screen will be a specific, highly-recognized slop image like the 6-fingered CoD Santa.
@ZeroNullity @IvyfulWorld Haven't seen gameplay of Pokopia, but Palfarm looks like it's gonna be Harvest Moon/Stardew, but the animals are smarter.
So they're very similar, in that case.
Big thing for me is I'm just not buying a console for one brand's games. Hoping Palfarm gets ported soon after launch.
@ArcRay20@dokibird Tbf there have been ๐ด๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ฆ big games on Switch 2 now. This post is a "part of the job" thing, but actually getting the console for just this game would be a personal choice.
I'll stay in line for Palfarm tho. Good vibes.
