Judith Butler discusses the work of philosopher Ernesto Laclau – who she describes as "one of the truly great thinkers in our lifetimes" – in relation to that of Marx, and to the power of the negative.
“My scarf is not the cause of my oppression, but the pretext of my exclusion!”
Great stuff from one of our regular contributors @cet_has1 over in @LSEengenderings today, on the political challenges of feminist solidarity.

Recent political developments in Denmark and their treatment of refugees raise deep questions about populism, the basis of social democracy and the problem of who constitutes the ‘people’.
From the archive: "What disturbs the ‘centre’ ground of Irish politics is that a truly left-egalitarian project cannot be fully accommodated and exhausted within routines and rituals of Irish political life. It opens up ever-new arenas of egalitarian struggle.”

Very interesting @TheNewPretender piece on the meaning of conspiracy theories in our current political climate ! My personal thought is that the most apt description of conspiracy theory is still provided by Fred Jameson in 'The Geo-Political Aesthetic'.
@TheNewPretender just published a piece I wrote on conspiracy thinking and critical theory. Have a read of it here - I argue that conspiracy theories are barely more absurd than the 'Reality' we all live in
We are very pleased to publish this thoughtful long-read from @seb_bierema of @socandpol on Conspiracy thinking, Critical Theory and heterodox forms of social explanation.
