Involving a 2015 Chrysler Town & Country and a 2008 Suzuki GSX-R 750. The driver of the Chrysler Town, who was traveling westbound in the left-hand turn lane, proceeded to make a southbound turn without yielding the right of way.
According to witnesses, including an off-duty LPD officer who provided first aid to the motorcyclist driver until LFR arrived, the Chrysler Town driver had a flashing yellow arrow. The Chrysler Town driver made the left turn in front of the oncoming motorcycle, resulting in the accident.
Witnesses described the motorcyclist driver as traveling at a normal speed, with some estimating speeds around 45–50 MPH. All witnesses concurred that the Chrysler Town Driver's turn was made without sufficient time to complete it safely.
The motorcyclist sustained life-threatening injuries. The Chrysler Town driver also required medical attention for chest pain.
