Knowing I was going to the Hurricanes game that night got me through so many rough days in high school. There would be about 10k very hardy fans in the building and they would usually lose. I still loved it.

This Stanley Cup is for all of North Carolina — it’s been wonderful to see its hockey community grow so large and passionate. But it’s particularly for those 10k fans from the dog years. Man, they earned this feeling.
