@benzgreenfield “Soul crushing” would be defined by interest rates. And its not born on folks in the same way as a normal loan.
American is the richest country in the world.
@benzgreenfield 5. Most of this spend is not just “fun spending aid” to help a sick stranger but is about literally saving lives of people around the world facing natural and human disasters. I think you're diminishing the impact of it
@benzgreenfield I think your misconstruing some important things:
1. USAID is not just about charity to strangers but its a soft power arm of the US. Arguably more powerful than the military
2. The US does not have, what i would describe as a “soul crushing loan” right now
@slifkinzoorabbi I don’t want to get into an extended online fight on this, especially with someone i greatly respect. Happy to have a private convo. My only hope is that we have overall peace and security. And that people spend less time online and more in-person meeting & talking to real people
@slifkinzoorabbi So Hamas attacking Israel is justification for ethnically cleansing Gaza by forcing 2 million people to leave their homeland to seek shelter as their homes are destroyed?
Post 10/7, Israel needed to attack Gaza but that’s no justification for encouraging its population to leave
@slifkinzoorabbi A: They may not want to leave (right wing talking points
B: They only want to leave as their homes have been destroyed by us, essentially we’ve encouraged/forced them to
@slifkinzoorabbi When in LA you spoke about counteracting the BDS academic lies and hate when it comes to the Gaza war - love it! You’re not helping our case by parroting talking points that make Jews look aggressive, expansionist & not caring about simple people with generational ties to an area
@slifkinzoorabbi@YousefMunayyer@slifkinzoorabbi I’ve generally loved what you’ve previously written about Tanach and the animal kingdom. But I’m incredibly disappointed with your recent radicalization. One can be religious Zionist without resorting to encouraging and defending ethnic cleansing
Today, Rachel Reeves announced Labour’s changes to planning and housing - and name-checked a proposed site at Worcestershire Parkway within my Droitwich and Evesham constituency.
During the election campaign I expressed grave concerns about Labour's instincts to make top-down decisions that impact the countryside from offices in Whitehall. The local voice should not be ignored.
While we all know we need more housing, it has to be in the right place, on the right scale and with appropriate supporting infrastructure.
Let's also be clear we are talking about building on fields, not previously developed land or brownfield sites here, too.
I shall be seeking further information and assurances from Labour ministers in the coming weeks and would welcome views from local residents who can contact me at [email protected]
