@TheAhmadOsman Honestly though, this needs to be the way at least long-term. At least I see no other viable option. Second best is a true non-profit lab, but that takes time, efforts and resources and is at the end again centralized in some way.
Local AI is the future
Learning how to run Opensource models (Inference), how to evaluate them systematically (Evals), and how to customize them (Fine-tuning / RL / Post-training) are invaluable skills to start learning today
There is no inevitability in AI. We all have agency in what comes next:
Path 1: closed-source APIs, concentration of power, and a future decided by a handful of people in Silicon Valley and DC
Path 2: open-source AI, where everyone gets to participate, own, and build together, including orgs like the city of Rio.
Pick your path anon!
I think this will be a historic day, that will have long-lasting impacts. I would have to write a whole essay with all the 2nd and 3rd order effects this will have. Just made the next years even more interesting.
At the end something like that was inevitable. Just very early.
@AndrasCzeizel Already said it today, good thing actually, but that's the spirit. Keep it that way.
And I'm also glad we connected ๐ Nobody needs to do the change alone ๐
Absolutely agree. The thing is, change is hard to get, when things/people are still in the comfort zone. When things are still just good enough. That very thing is changing now slowly, and at least gives space for a mind change. It's slow, it's long overdue, but it's happening. Now it's all about using and hopefully amplifying that momentum.
What it needs now is (young) people with drive and the willingness to fundamentally change something, even though things won't be easy. But besides that easy is boring anyway, real challenges just usually aren't easy. It's all about the attitude of how we face them. Some take it, some take their tales between their legs and run away trying to find their luck somewhere else. To a certain degree I sometimes understand the latter, but I could never do that.
Followed you back โ๏ธ
@LLMJunky Was just a matter of time though, tbh. That moment was inevitable, I just assumed it would happen way later. That last doubt was gone, when Eric Schmidt described data centers in the near future. Still, feels all a bit surreal.
@DominiqueCAPaul Fuck yeah, that's the spirit. Love to see that. i
Especially in contrast to so much whining about Europe I see here on X. Only complaining (and moving away) won't change anything.
GLM-5.2 is Fully Open, Frontier Intelligence Belongs to Everyone
Today, the sudden restriction of certain frontier models is deeply regrettable. At a time when access to frontier models is abruptly cut off for non-technical reasons, we are even more convinced of one thing: science should be global.
The path to AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) must never be enclosed by high walls. We have always believed that AGI should be the cornerstone for all of humanity to collaboratively explore the boundaries of intelligence and solve complex challenges, rather than a privilege monopolized by a few rules and subject to revocation at any moment. In the face of external blockades and restrictions, our attitude is one of radical openness. Frontier intelligence must remain open-source, accessible, and buildable, serving every dedicated developer.
GLM-5.2 is Zhipu's most capable open-source model to date. It not only supports a truly usable 1M context window but also maintains a continuous lead in the independent completion of long-horizon tasks, providing solid foundational support for building complex agent applications. It also continues to be our main engine for creating the strongest domestic coding model.
Tonight at 5:21โat this special momentโGLM-5.2 will officially be available to all GLM Coding Plan users (including Lite / Pro / Max). The API will also go live next week.
A step closer to frontier intelligence for everyone.
The future of AI is open, and it is for the people.
ModelKey: GLM-5.2
And maybe to clarify point 1 and to give an example: AI Avatars and the underlying tool usage - incl. governance and provenance - will likely be a lot better than today, which would maybe be an option for older people. Basically a wizard process, but based on AI (avatars). Not entirely there yet, but forseeable that these will improve a lot.
Like the approach, nice demo. Imo in general the right approach and direction, to make things much(!) more digital.
Just 2 things from my side, if I can give you some feedback:
1. Don't necessarily build on what is already possible today, but what will pretty sure be there in a year or two. I admit, not easy though.
2. Keep the user group in mind. Sure, you might not be able to handle every "edge case" (e.g. physical/mental disabilities) with a one size fits all solution, but one thing that is quite certain, is that the user group is on average getting older due to demographics. And these will struggle with a dashboard like this. Trust me, I know. But maybe point 1 could help here. Even very positive about that.
But that just as constructive feedback, cause as I said, I really like your approach, and I like people that don't cry and whine, when something is not going right, but at least propose or even change something themselves. You do, and seem to be a bit younger, so respect my guy, and keep going. Dope work so far.
Wow, I was expecting something like that in general, just not that early. Wonder if it's a capability issue, or if they wanna hurt Anthropic because of the fallout between them and the US gov early this year. Nonetheless, wild!
The US government, citing national security authorities, has issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees.
The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance.
Access to all other Claude models is not affected.
We apologize for this disruption to our customers. We believe this is a misunderstanding and are working to restore access as soon as possible.

@earthtojake GenAI + 3D printing and robotics is gonna be a great in the near future and incredible shortly after. This is absolutely an indicator for it.
@loktar00@KyleHessling1 That's the reason - and kinda hoping and waiting for - why I'd never(!) sell my Quest 3. That combination is gonna be wild. Even with this hardware gen.
