Great media tour continues @tadtweets 🚀🚀🚀
In this episode of Beyond the Drop, we sit down with @tadtweets , CEO of @CandyDigital and former CEO of Sotheby’s, for a fascinating conversation about the future of collecting.
From fine art and auctions to digital collectibles and fandom driven communities, Tad shares his perspective on what drives collectors, why digital ownership still matters, and how the collecting landscape could evolve over the next decade.
We discuss the lessons learned from the NFT boom and bust, the relationship between physical and digital collectibles, the psychology of collecting, and Candy Digital’s long term vision for the future.
Whether you collect sports cards, comics, art, memorabilia, digital collectibles, or NFTs, this episode offers valuable insights into where collecting may be headed next.
"There are some things that Candy is doing that we sort of hope other people do...
We sort of hope others make it possible for true self-custody.
We sort of hope others pick an L1 that enforces royalties and makes it possible for the royalty owners to be protected.
We hope others provide the security level of an L1.
We hope others increase the liquidity of the secondary markets on the larger L1s.
We hope the secondary markets on some kinds of L1s rather than other kinds of L1s also begin to accept protocols that have enforceable royalties on them, as opposed to just, you know, maybe by chance or by contract or just not at all.
Because we think all of those are very good for the ecosystem overall, and we think the market will grow.
We think that a number of the problems that the folks who are very enthusiastic about physical collecting, and by the way, I count myself as one of those too, will embrace those things and they'll be better for everybody.
So, I like all of those things, and if some aspects of what we're doing are opening new doors for others to either improve upon or go through those doors, that's beneficial to us. So, we're fans."

JUST IN: Senator Lummis says the Clarity Act is not just a crypto bill, it’s a decision about whether America leads the next financial system or watches from the sidelines
Really interesting interview with @tadtweets today on @TRUMediaGroup.
A few of my biggest takeaways:
- We’re getting true self-custody on @solana with royalty enforcement.
Top of the line self custody that no other sports digital collectibles company can beat.
- 10% royalty (big question which would be consistent with other marketplaces is making sure that's 5% on both sides, because 10% on both sides would be too much imo). Maybe @tadtweets@CandyDigital can confirm here.
In my view royalties are essential for many reasons and we also need to make sure they are competitive.
- In exchange for royalty enforcement assets become dramatically safer, more portable, and more valuable.
I honestly see @MLB promoting digital when they realize the royalties they can make from secondary marketplace activity.
- Lots of potential of exciting things we can do with @metaplex (dynamic collectibles, fractional ownership which I can't wait to set up...), but we aren't there yet.
That's putting the cart ahead of the horse.
- Major marketplace access matters a LOT (Magic Eden, OpenSea eventually, etc.). My biggest concern is how they organize it as it sounds like @CandyDigital has input but not final control which is fair, but we want to make sure it's set up right!
- Feels like we’re finally moving toward the version of sports digital collectibles many of us hoped for years ago. 🚀🚀🚀
- And if these @paninitracker sales keep climbing… things could get very interesting for high-end 1/1 digital sports collectibles 👀
- Sounds like we will get some @MLB drops in June and they are still working out details with DC, but actively working on it.
- Also yes, I recorded this while bouncing between Argentina, Peru, Guatemala, volcano hikes, Costa Rica, and soon Mexico City for the #worldcup2026 😂
Fun times.

This morning. I’m watching some of my @CandyDigital MLB assets, and I truly believe Candy MLB stands above for sports collectors. Price and function might be a different story. Different people will have different priorities. From a collecting viewpoint, there’s no comparison
