@katiejstar@DaytonKali@Mich_D_Neuro_OT We are now ALLOWED to treat in there as we have a dedicated team seeing COVID patients but unfortunately, our patients are too sick for earlt mobility.
@katiejstar@DaytonKali@Mich_D_Neuro_OT I normally treat in ICU. Right now, all the patients in our ICU are heavily sedated, paralyzed, and some are proned. They are not medically appropriate for mobilization due to the severity of their illnesses.
In these unprecedented times combating the immobility harm is essential in the #Hospital as a care priority!! With more patient isolation, no visitors and stretched resources we have faith you can creatively make sure #everyBODYmoves. Let’s take on #COVIDー19
@katiejstar@Mich_D_Neuro_OT We will screen patients on our caseload through the notes, but also through communication with nursing staff. Ex— an RN told me verbally that an MD wanted us to see a pt. I asked RN to attempt mobility and let me know how it went. Pt needed more assist than RN could provide.
@DaytonKali@Mich_D_Neuro_OT I’m most worried about my ICU pts, who will have deconditioning from the time on the vent and then will have the extra challenge of a rehab facility not taking them because they tested positive for COVID. You want to get in early to prevent, but also aren’t allowed to. It’s tough
@Mich_D_Neuro_OT What is your current OT caseload like and how many of those patients are in isolation? Our average caseload is about 80 patients. We are now down to 46 and 13 of them are on isolation.
@AshleyJones_13 Ashley, if you need some please LMK. I was able to go to the store on Wednesday and likely have more than I need and am happy to share!
@chrisbharrison We don’t have access to a Costco at our Punta Cana all inclusive, so we just had to order all the rosé in the tallest glasses they had!
