Have a look inside Save the Children's new online course for #humanitarians. Learn how to manage data responsibly and avoid: doing harm, breaching privacy laws, and neglecting human rights. With credit to @humdata@UNOCHA 's Data Responsibility Guidelines.

@CIGIonline You mentioned technology developments not filtering into the CCW forum. Was it a misstep to host LAWS dialogues at CCW instead of creating a new treaty organization to regulate them? Is it too late to seek a paradigm shift in how we govern these weapons?
Even two years after creating the international development and humanitarian industry's first free open-access Responsible Data Management course I was so encouraged to see more than 140 of my colleagues across the world join my webinar last week.

As someone who works a lot with surveys and people affected by inequality, I really appreciate seeing more action and ideas to make different gender identities more visible in national statistics. Great start.

@brankamarijan True, but if attitudes towards LAWS track with attitudes towards AI more broadly then we could be on a trajectory where trust in the technology grows and public opinion improves. The moral case can't be wed only to public opinion, state morality also matters.
@brankamarijan I'm so glad this article exists. On the importance of public opinion in regulating LAWS, do you think it matters if the public disagrees with the use of the technology for moral reasons OR if they disagree because they don't trust the technology to be infallible?
First time on record that a killer robot has likely been permitted to autonomously select human targets and kill. Time to pump the brakes.

@brankamarijan Agree, and another worry is that forms of this technology are already in deployment and lethal decision-making procedures in military are already warped by their presence or imminence while the governance debate is hung up on definitions and a "pre-emptive" ban.

Unprecedented event! A civilian passenger plane flying to Vilnius was forcibly landed in #Minsk. Belarusian political activist & founder of @NEXTA_EN was on the plane. He is arrested. 🇧🇾 regime is behind the abhorrent action. I demand to free Roman Protasevič urgently!
@b_momani I sadly share the pesimism/realism in this article. Over decades Israel has proven immune to any degree of international outcry and condemnation and the avenues for Palestinian diplomacy unchanged and narrow.
