@sonomar @bwecht The reasoning for halving being the best you can do is just that any question that could potentially narrow it down more if answered ���yes’ would have to narrow it down less if the answer was ‘no’. You’d probably be able to reliably guess it with ~333 guesses.

@sonomar @bwecht Not Brain or a physicist, but as far as I’m aware the best you can do is half the search space with each question. “Is your number greater than 5*10^50?” Even if you repeat this 20 times you’d still have like a one in eight trigentillion chance of being right afterwards.
