@EvilKeaton@FkMySmPnsLife That and I saw someone on here making the point that Marvel is just more setup to reflect the real world history of the characters. While DC will to this day insist that Doctor Midnight is important, Marvel won’t try to act like The Destroyer wasn’t a loser.
@ProfofEvil Yeah exactly. It’s really the name of it all that I can’t get behind. Seeing action and making saves is fine, crafting a full public identity is where it falls apart for me.
@ProfofEvil And that mental journey is why I think having him basically having the concept fully formed by the time he’s in high school, only to change the end of his name when he moves to the city robs the whole thing of some weight.
@ProfofEvil I’ve said it before but I really think Smallville cracked the code. Him and his friends in an Archie town solving weird mysteries. Then afterwards he travels for a couple years Birthright style, figures out he needs to go theatrical and it’s a wrap.
@ProfofEvil As much as we point to Superboy being in Siegel’s early pitches, I think that everyone’s surprised reaction in those first issues clearly show that the intent was the world had pretty recently been introduced to this guy, who presumably had been slowly coming up with the idea.
@ProfofEvil I think he’d be compelled to act for sure. But wearing a colorful suit and giving yourself a stage name just seems like something that would take a guy a little while to figure out, especially if he’s been afraid of letting his true self out.
No country should be allowed to host the World Cup while imposing discriminatory rules on qualified and participating teams.
This ought to be a very basic requirement.
