On May 15, 1911, the U.S. Supreme Court ordered John D. Rockefeller’s Standard Oil empire to be dismantled. He was worth roughly $300 million at the time. Two years later, his fortune had tripled to approximately $900 million.

Standard Oil was separated into 34 independent companies, but Rockefeller did not cash out. He retained shares in the businesses created by the breakup. Investors could suddenly value each company separately, demand for oil continued growing, and Rockefeller owned part of nearly every winner.

The punishment designed to destroy his monopoly made him the richest man alive.

Same assets. New structure. Roughly $600 million added to one fortune. Rockefeller’s greatest advantage was not the oil he sold, but the ownership he refused to surrender.

Income rewards you once for work already completed. Ownership continues paying as the underlying system becomes more valuable.

The documentary is free. The willingness to keep ownership while everyone else chases income is where the entire fortune begins.
