#LucyLetby: Even IF an air embolism was present in any of the cases.. & it's highly questionable that there was.. It has to be remembered that this is known to occur as a result of resuscitation.
Clearly Dr Evans didn't take this into account once he'd settled on his conclusion.
Despite 5 autopsies, all finding nothing suspicious as a cause of death & 1 returning a finding of 'undetermined', a retired Paediatrician.. not a Pathologist.. later decides an air embolism is 'the most likely' cause of all 6 deaths. Years later. #LucyLetby
@LetbyWitchHunt A more accurate question would be 'Do you believe Dr Jayaram saying what he THOUGHT he saw?'. That's an enormous difference. Of course the good doctor has certainly taken to the limelight since his jump to a conclusion. #LucyLetby
@LucyLetbyTrials The prosecution is clearly relying on Lucy Letby's prior convictions to sway the jury. They obviously don't have enough evidence that would stand up on it's own.
@LucyLetbyTrials@BBC@thetimes I'm impressed that the BBC'S main stories.. at least here in Aus this morning.. include Kevin Spacey admitting to being 'too handsy' & some riveting controversy regarding a US hot dog champion.. Not a single mention of #LucyLetby. Interesting & depressing in equal measure.
@wls_almostthere 'I think there was a need to be the centre of attention'.. From everything he says, that statement is absolutely correct. He obviously does crave the attention.
What a condescending dinosaur of a thing.
You simply can't diagnose an air embolism by looking at X-rays or reviewing notes. The required tests for this weren't carried out, yet somehow the prosecution convinced the jury that an air embolism was 'the most likely' cause of death in each case. Appalling. #LucyLetby
@DebRoberts22249@wls_almostthere Being present for 75% of the 'suspicious' deaths is vastly different. The biggest error though wasn't the incomplete chart. That was just one of the highly questionable aspects of the case.
Much media attention was given to the 'incriminating' note by Lucy Letby. 'I killed them on purpose'. The 2 words before that are often completely ignored, but they change the entire meaning. 'They went...'
That & 'I haven't done anything wrong' on the same note #LucyLetby
@wls_almostthere 'They rarely collapse in this way' & 'they are usually responsive to resuscitation' also means: 'At times they do collapse in this way' & 'sometimes resuscitation isn't successful'.
But of course that would have been a much less convincing argument for the prosecution. #LucyLetby
'There are no recent findings, identified in the scientific literature, that support the use of post-mortem x-rays to determine air embolism as a cause of death'...
Which is obviously news to Dr Dewi Evans.

@wls_almostthere There were more 'suspicious cases' identified.. 25 in total. At least 3 remained 'suspicious' after closer examination. These weren't included in the prosecution's case or on that chart. They couldn't be, because Lucy Letby wasn't working for any of them. #LucyLetby
@merchant47 The defence was seriously woeful. The prosecution gave the impression that an air embolism was 'the most likely' cause of the deaths, but also managed to convince the jury that there weren't any other real possibilities. Neither is true. The defence should have torn that apart.
Having read through the presented 'evidence' at the trial, one thing is clear: Lucy Letby should never have been convicted of ANY of the charges she faced. Much of the medical evidence wasn't evidence at all, but speculation & improper science. #LucyLetby
#LucyLetby More than 1 additional 'suspicious episode' was identified on review, including 1 insulin case. This also showed high insulin & low C-Peptide, identical to those presented by the prosecution. But this wasn't included in the trial. Why? Because Lucy Letby was away.

Whenever I see the words โonlyโ + โkids have diedโ I question the writerโs insight into pediatrics & the total effect of the pandemic on children. Also, Iโm guessing the parents of 525 children would like a word here.
