The tax difference eats into any/all PPP advantage as your PPP logic only applies to what is left after taxes…. Taxes are upfront and progressive (higher brackets kick in faster on the inflated CAD income). PPP only affects consumption. This statement also assumes prices are identical in local currencies (e.g., a coffee costs $5 USD in Tampa and $5 CAD in Toronto), but they’re not. The conversion helps and it’s a real benefit but it doesn’t make up for the tax hit. Our team consists of multiple certified CPAs with dual citizenship. This is kind of our thing ❤️
