CPI Came In as Expected, But Don’t Let It Fool You 📊🛢️

Headline inflation matched estimates.

However:

This CPI print reflects data before oil spiked to $100+.

Translation: Next month’s inflation data is going to look very different if oil stays elevated.

Energy costs feed into everything; transportation, manufacturing, food prices. The lag is real, and the market might be pricing in relief too early.
Don’t confuse “as expected” with “problem solved.”

The real test comes when the next CPI print reflects $100 oil instead of $70 oil.

Smart money isn’t celebrating yet. They’re watching what happens next.
