@AR2000X8@Wh4th3fu@Logically_JC Normal properly functioning countries (ie. Not the US) have systems that process such claims in a reasonable length of time, measured in days or weeks, not months or years, and there is no real problem with needing to temporarily release them into your country pending processing.
@AR2000X8@Wh4th3fu@Logically_JC Every human alive is eligible to claim asylum in any country they like and have their case heard.
The lawful process for how to do that is to arrive with no right to enter and apply.
How meritorious their claims of persecution in their home country actually are is subjective.
@BradleyThomas1X @WesternLensman One of the biggest problems with crime data in general from a data-science perspective is that globally, what constitutes a crime with a similar name (for all crimes except 1st-degree murder) isn't consistent between jurisdictions.
@BradleyThomas1X @WesternLensman Always will be. Flawed data is (usually anyway) better than no data, though. At least you can attempt to change something and learn more about how your data is flawed if nothing else. Science is all about forming hypotheses and testing them to achieve knowledge.
@BradleyThomas1X @WesternLensman Year-over-year data is mostly useless noise - but the trends over decades probably suggest something useful about what we do differently to manage recidivism and rehabilitation now vs in the past
@BradleyThomas1X @WesternLensman Crime being up, down, or sideways is a gross oversimplification of the thinking - if you don't have a hypothesis as to why the change occurred to interrogate, what difference does it make?
@BradleyThomas1X @WesternLensman Would you prefer they just *don't* update the data when better data becomes available?
If anything - this data update makes Dems look worse - if it was some conspiracy to hide the data, why release it now, and not wait until after the election?
@BradleyThomas1X @WesternLensman Certainly, FBI revised the published data as additional data became available to them. This isn't suspicious, that's just how asynchronous data collection works - we don't have all the data until we have all the data.
But the data available includes data you claim is missing.
@BradleyThomas1X @WesternLensman Inferring an awful lot from me simply making a statement that your claim of cities being missing in the FBI data is untrue. I am not even American. Plenty of reasons you might interpret the data differently or even claim it's wrong, but the data IS NOT missing - I can see it.
@BradleyThomas1X @WesternLensman I don't give a shit what your *news source* says - the authoritative source for this claim is the FBI data as published by the FBI, which includes data from these cities you claim it doesn't.
@BradleyThomas1X @WesternLensman I'm fact checking you because claiming that large cities don't report to FBI is false. They do. They always have, except for during the transition of the NIBRS system in 2021. And importantly - the most recent data DOES include numbers from those cities.
@RandyWKirk1@RodrigoBetances@kylaschwaberow@jasondebolt Nah dude, fuck that. When a power tripping cop is trampling your rights, you should not just obey them.
Citizens have the right to film their encounters with police.
