This isn’t big brain stuff. The delivery fee is a summation of all the costs a restaurant has to offer delivery service. The big cost is insurance. Parking is also sometimes a factor, the signs, thermal bags, driver delivery payment, and incidental stuff.

A lot are just relying on things like DoorDash and Uber Eats which I have the premium / plus memberships but they are slower and the food doesn’t come as fresh.

Also tips were never optional. It’s always been 15% for food service thats pays below minimum wage for just basic service. More if you feel it’s warranted and if terrible tell the manager. Just tipping low or not just says you are another that can’t afford to eat out and doesn’t address the problem.

A restaurant has a hard choice to raise its prices by 15% to cover that wage increase as everyone will now be here whining that a restaurant is charging more.

Also the 15% service fees have nothing to do with tips that many see lately. It has to do with prices and tariffs. All the to-go stuff and food costs have gone up a lot, but to change menus and signs and websites is expensive. And even if they printed new menus some asshat will say the menu they have from two years ago says the item is $3 less (even though they have used the excuse a million times).

The place I delivered for would blacklist the house, the name and the credit card for anyone that didn’t tip. They’d have to come in with cash for the server or driver to be reinstated.

If they ordered in restaurant we’d obviously have to take the payment since they are but the owner would make a scene at the table and it usually went down like this:

This is none of your business!

Manager: but it is my business, I am the manager.

Well I know the owner and he will hear about this and you will be fired.

Manager: ahh that is me too and I don’t know you except you don’t tip.

This was for everyone to hear and usually tips would be really good for the servers during that :)

Yes retrievers have attacked people. The main problems are lack of training and lack of willingness to neuter. Almost 80% of bites are by unneutered dogs. Kids are the number 1 victims usually elementary school aged.

In most fatal bites the breed could not be reliably confirmed. The breeds in the top list are German Shepherds, Pit-bull types, Rottweilers, Jack Russel terriers (I worked for a vet that had a lot of polo/equestrian clients and JRTs had maimed kids and killed larger dogs in the family), chow chows, collies, spaniels, st. Bernards, mixed breeds and retrievers.

Pit bulls are news worthy the rest not so much.

Top three for severe attacks are the pit bull types, Rottweilers, and German shepherds.

Some smaller breeds bite more but usually the bite is not a major issue so left unreported.

These include dachshunds, beagles, border collies, Australian cattle dogs, chihuahuas, cocker spaniels.
