✍️ I understand Maresca's frustration because this is the season he sees opportunity to get close to the title.
But Chelsea feel like they can manage the situation within the squad. Sure they can, but assume we decide to push Acheampong and Anselmino into the role, it will help their development a lot but it could cost us points which could be the difference between winning the title and finishing 3rd.
As a manager, it's frustrating. Not the hard work he will put into it to stabilise the defence but the setback the team will suffer in some games. For example, it took time to Stabilise Robert Sanchez last season but in the first half of the season, his unforced errors cost us more than 6 points, which could've had us in 2nd behind Liverpool. That's the frustration for Maresca.
Managers are judged by results. The club can say, "don't worry, manage what you have", but when results start going south, they will still sack you for their very own miscalculation. That's why managers try to insist. You won't blame them. That's the nature of the game.
@Blue_Footy Happy. He's not worth what AC are asking. The only thing that's disappointing is we didn't sign anyone important except for Delap. We needed to strengthen the LW before CWC.
🚨 EXCL: Mike Maignan deal now OFF between Chelsea and AC Milan. ❌🇫🇷
Chelsea not willing to meet Milan price, deal not proceeding in time for Club World Cup as #CFC won’t pay “CWC tax”.
#CFC mantain full trust in Petrović, Sánchez, Jorgensen + talent Mike Penders for GK role.
It seems we as Chelsea fans don't trust Badiashile in big games.
Everyone is pissed. Let's hope the guy turns up and performs without mistakes. Big night for him.
Chelsea have Liam Delap, Benjamin Sesko, Hugo Ekitike and Viktor Gyökeres on their shortlist for a new number nine. They want to move quickly to secure a new striker.
Each being pursued by other Premier League clubs as well. Securing #UCL puts Chelsea in a stronger position.
Delap expected to decide his future this week and ranks high in Chelsea’s thinking. Chelsea have held positive talks and are optimistic now that #MUFC have no European football.
Everton and Newcastle have also met Delap. And the Ipswich striker has had new interest from abroad in the past 48 hours.
Ekitike likely to cost at least £80m. Frankfurt prefer to keep so will prove tough to negotiate with. #LFC have also enquired.
Sesko and Gyökeres are Arsenal’s two main targets now Alexander Isak is likely to stay at #NUFC.
Sesko will cost €80m if his clause is triggered. Gyökeres can leave Sporting for around €70m.
Chelsea pitched to Sesko last summer before he decided to stay at Leipzig.
And Chelsea looked at Gyökeres in summer 2023, and again in January 2024, but are yet to make a fresh approach.🔵
