NEW | “It really hurts right now. But I’m just so thankful for the journey and to finish it here with this team.”
Nebraska's special softball season came to a painful end on Sunday in the Women's College World Series.
My column on the team's legacy:

A program that moved mountains this season.
@HuskerSoftball broke records on the field, sold out stadiums on the road, set new attendance records in their home stadium and turned Nebraska into a softball state.
They did it while competing at the highest level and signing every last autograph for future players.
@RhondaRevelle and this team will go down remembered as 2x Big Ten champs and even better human beings.
@JON_SQUIER@HuskerSoftball I’m with you, Jon. What a terrible way to treat loyal fans.
Softball donors should have priority, but beyond that treat season ticket holders with a little more appreciation and respect.
A column from Houston. The night brought tears. This #Huskers season brought joy that will long be remembered. And, to their greatest credit, heightened expectations.
"We're going to win these games. We're going to continue to compete for championships."

I condemn this in the strongest terms.
There is ZERO place in our great country for these horrendous acts of political violence.
We must find a better way forward.
May Charlie Kirk have a full and quick recovery.
@FedExHelp Having a ton of trouble with a package that was to arrive on the 27th. Your customer service department is not helpful. Assist, please, it’s getting ridiculous
America hasn’t been perfect. It’s made grave mistakes. But there is no country that has ever done more for improving the world. It breaks my heart how unappreciative Americans across the ideological spectrum are of that. Much of the left rejects we’ve ever been good for the world, much of the right wants to stop being good for the world. Shame on all of them.
Every journalist (and citizen) ought to read this book. Or at the very least listen to the podcast, if they are curious at all about how we got to where we are.
