Since it's so closely RELATED to my belief system, I have sought to understand other people's (ie Catholic) interpretation of the Bible, while still holding to my own.

While we do respect her as the mother of Christ, she is not worshipped or prayed to. She's not venerated to the same extent in most protestant churches as she is in catholic church. Very few statues/ paintings of her.

What I was specifically referring to not having heard was Mary being called the "bride of God". The church (Christians) is known as the "bride of Christ".
