Advice to Young Wide Receivers:
If you want the ball more, you have to develop trust with two people.
1. The Play Caller
You develop trust by consistently performing in practice. Knowing what to do and executing. Coaches call the plays that look crisp in practice. You can't just show up on gameday, you earn your targets in practice.
2. The Quarterback
You develop trust by building chemistry outside of practice. You need to run routes after practice (and all off-season) with your QB. In clutch moments, Quarterbacks are thinking "players over plays" - the ball typically goes to the player they trust the most.
"There's an old saying about the strength of the wolf is the pack, and I think there's a lot of truth to that. On a football team, it's not the strength of the individual players, but it is the strength of the unit and how they all function together."
-Bill Belichick
