@SeoHoKarenSong1 @cwribaudo @nour_naja @PateraMagdalini @CharlesChierico @NU_ChemE Thanks! We washed the hair with a specified amount of shampoo, massage it in for 30s and then rinse for 30s. We also had a specified flow rate and temperature for our water that was used to wash the hair.

@Robert_Newman97 @cwribaudo @nour_naja @PateraMagdalini @CharlesChierico @NU_ChemE Hey Rob, the only colorimeter that was available to us was one that analyzed color intensity in liquids, not on solids, such as hair. In our report we mention that more accurate results would be obtained using a digital colorimeter utilizing the L* a* b* color scale.

@michaelnguy14 @cwribaudo @nour_naja @PateraMagdalini @CharlesChierico @NU_ChemE The reason that prototype 1 shows a high transmittance after the first wash is because during the first wash it stripped away most of the color in the hair (low transmittance for first wash). This caused the next washes to have a high transmittance as there was no color to strip.

@AntonRepnikov @cwribaudo @nour_naja @PateraMagdalini @CharlesChierico @NU_ChemE Hey Anton, our goal is to keep a steady and small amount of dye being washed out after each wash. There is a colorimeter that observes color change on the actual hair tresses, however the UO lab does not have such a colorimeter. Yes, the wash volume was also controlled.

@ThomasJWebster1 @cwribaudo @nour_naja @PateraMagdalini @CharlesChierico @NU_ChemE This will reduce the amount of times our consumers dye their hair by two fold, this means that our product decreases the amount of harmful chemicals from hair dyes are released into the environment and enter the ecosystem when they are washed away.

Our current goal is to prolong the hair color in our consumer's hair by a month. We have made an assumption that customers that dye their hair wash their hair with shampoo 2-3 times a week.
