Americans criticizing Canada for not being able to control 1 billion acres of forrest when they can't even control their own lettuce supply from giving themselves explosive diarrhea.
Tomorrow is going to be in ugly day in the 🇨🇦 media world; Corus is gutting the production of news in Calgary and Edmonton- all production will be 100% Toronto based. Lots of jobs lost.
Don Taylor on 650: Reportedly when the news was delivered (to employees), there were still people in the room and the people who delivered the news were laughing and giggling about where they were going to have lunch, Carderos or Cactus Club. They don't care.

The Vancouver Whitecaps have made a bid to run BC Place, @risingaction and @aftncanada report, believing they can make more money than PAVCO can running the stadium.
PAVCO would get a share of revenue, the Whitecaps would control dates.

A group led by San Francisco 49ers limited partner Vinod Khosla has agreed to purchase the Seattle Seahawks for $9.6 billion, a record sale price for an NFL franchise, per @SethWickersham and me.
My very first radio job was at News1130.. Overnight "Traffic and weather, together on the 1's". My dad would call in and give me traffic scoops.. Eventually overnight news anchor, then into sports. A huge learning ground, gone. Feel very sorry for BCIT who sent many of us there
Just brutal news seeing @Sportsnet650 shut down today. Lots of good people who helped me start on the media side during the Canucks playoff run a couple years ago. Past two seasons have been fun going into the station and rink covering the Canucks. @SatiarShah@BikNizzar@ThomasDrance@JamieDodd@CamJBarra and many more thank you again.
these days suck. It’s a small circle to begin with and then the giant telecoms swing the axe. It’s always their solution. Feel for my friends and colleagues at 650.
The decision to shut down SN650 is seismic. Losing another major sports media voice in Vancouver is a devastating loss.
That station has produced an incredible amount of talent and gave so many young voices a platform.
A sad day for sports media in this city.
