Wips from Substance Painter.
Did you know you can get a pretty good render in Substance Painter's real time renderer?
There is a whole list of Post effects in the display settings.
Sad that I couldn't get the Blender texturing to work as well for my use case.
I was hoping to finish this project entirely within Blender.
Unfortunately the texturing process in Blender is very barebones, even compared to vertex colour painting.
The brush is always projecting based on view instead of based on the normal of what you are painting on.
Another issue I encountered, There are so many bugs with the multiresolution modifier.
One where the vertices jump at random when going back and forth.
And this one I don't know how this happens, its not just a visual issue either, this is baked in mesh.
Currently in the process of retopo to move to UVing and Texturing in Blender.
Sadly Blender's default retopo methods are still slow and cumbersome, but thankfully Retopoflow actually improved in the time since without that slow Python Ui.
Retopoflow 4 very good, its fun to use.
@jays_3d I think the crash is unrelated to the polycount, as even when I am sculpting in render mode its fine, no stutters, no hangs, no lag either.
it crashed while I am painting the vertex colours in render mode with no prior lag or hangups.
its currently on 2 and half million polys.
New blender is hella good!
I am very surprised it's handling millions and millions of polys while sculpting just fine, no lag, no hangs, no crashes.
very fub
after a long while, I have tried to use Blender for sculpting again.
I am pleasantly surprised at how much it has improved since 2019, even the feel of the sculpting has improved
maybe do sculpt!!
