@charlessha94517@d0micci@DivinelyDesined I'm going to say this as well. This argument isn't helpful to either of us... so I will halt it. Thank you for your time and discussing this with me.
@charlessha94517@d0micci@DivinelyDesined The claims made by athiests on things like the creation of the world don't have scientific evidence, but they say they would believe in God if we could prove God exists with scientific evidence.
@charlessha94517@d0micci@DivinelyDesined His alleged journey violates known physics.
Presents have identifiable human sources.
Santa's image originated in folklore and literature.
Historical Saint Nicholas is not the magical Santa.
You could argue that isn't truly enough to disprove. I believe it is enough.
@charlessha94517@d0micci@DivinelyDesined Your worldview, your beliefs about reality and whatnot, has no evidence to back it, and you try and pull the evidence card on us. Athiests as a group do this.
@charlessha94517@d0micci@DivinelyDesined I'm assuming your an athiest. Every athiest I've ever heard has said they would need verifiable scientific evidence to believe in God. I don't know if you take that position, it was an assumption. I'm sorry.
@charlessha94517@d0micci@DivinelyDesined That is not a lack of belief. That is a belief. You believe you need scientific evidence to prove the existence of God.
@charlessha94517@d0micci@DivinelyDesined I can conclusively prove Santa does not exist based on evidence. Your worldview however has no evidence. That is the difference.
@charlessha94517@d0micci@DivinelyDesined I said lack of belief. Which is having no belief whatsoever, is impossible. I'm trying to assert that athiests believe in something, making it a religion.
@charlessha94517@d0micci@DivinelyDesined That's not lack of belief, that's not believing in. I'm saying you will always believe in something. In the example you're using, you believe Santa Claus is not real.
@tribez1976@DivinelyDesined What is your evidence? I have never heard an athiest give me reasonable evidence for their beliefs. It's all based off of theories that are less logical than a belief in a creator.
@Kalbboi@Aly_Cernika@MalfoidStan@sticked_guy@paranoid_c0re I agree that objective morality should be consistent regardless of the time period. I think the distinction is whether God was endorsing slavery as morally good or regulating an existing practice in a fallen world.
@Kalbboi@Aly_Cernika@MalfoidStan@sticked_guy@paranoid_c0re I wouldn't argue that Christians today should support debt bondage. My point is that historical context matters when interpreting what Scripture regulated versus what it prescribes as an ideal.
@Kalbboi@Aly_Cernika@MalfoidStan@sticked_guy@paranoid_c0re Biblical slavery was different from modern race-based slavery, often involving debt servitude. That doesn't make it harmless, but historical context matters when interpreting Scripture.
