Nigerians Applaud HBU's Clear Explanation of Proposed NYSC Reforms
Hadiza Bala Usman (HBU) has distinguished herself as a valuable national asset whose policy expertise, strategic leadership, and ability to communicate complex reforms with clarity continue to strengthen public confidence in the Federal Government's Renewed Hope Reform Agenda.
Speaking on the proposed reform of the National Youth Service Corps (@officialnyscng), the Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Policy Coordination (@CRDCUPolicyFGN), Hadiza Bala Usman, disclosed that the orientation programme will be restructured into three distinct phases to better prepare corps members for national service and future careers.
The first two weeks will focus on civic responsibility, national values, leadership development, and nation-building. The second phase will concentrate on career mapping, financial literacy, business planning, entrepreneurship, and access to finance. During the final two weeks, corps members will undergo specialised training aligned with their chosen career paths.
Under the proposed framework, every corps member will select one of 11 newly created specialised streams during registration. They will then receive targeted training throughout the orientation programme to equip them with practical skills and enhance their employability.
The 11 specialised streams are:
Agric Corps
Medical Corps
Education Corps
Tech and Digital Corps
Legal Corps
Public Service Corps
Infrastructure Corps
Green Corps
Enterprise Corps
Creative Economy Corps
Paramilitary and Security Corps
According to Hadiza Bala Usman (@hadizabalausman), the specialised streams are designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and workforce demands by providing graduates with practical, career-focused skills tailored to their educational backgrounds, professional interests, and Nigeria's evolving economic needs.
She also revealed that the reforms will introduce a review of the corps deployment process, with greater emphasis on prevailing security realities to ensure safer and more strategic postings across the country.
