The most exciting part of hybridizing roses is seeing what the seedlings look like!
Here is a hip that is forming. Pictured are the parents ‘whimsey’ (miniature rose) and a gallica/hybrid tea cross that I made.

I have gallica hybrids that I’ve decided to keep growing in the test garden. They have all have set hips, so anxious to see how viable their seeds are!

🌹Rose seedling of ‘Fourth of July’
I had almost 200 sibling seeds germinate this year, and it has been so interesting to see the differences between them all!
Will be comparing all of them before the culling process begins…

Rose hip developing nicely on one of my rose hybrids in the test garden.
This particular rose I am very interested in, as it showed excellent cold hardiness from this past winter. Keeping fingers crossed that it makes a good seed parent!

Am enjoying the yellow color! And it seems to have more petals than its seed parent!
Will wait for the plant to get a bit larger, then I will move it outside to see how well the color holds up!

‘Tuscany Superb X Olympiad’
Loving the color, and flower form! This rose also showed excellent cold hardiness, barely any tip damage from this past winter.
