Market has become numb to good news
One year ago if you were told we'd have the government do a press conference saying the golden age of crypto is coming, you'd be euphoric
wondering why the u.s cares so much about stablecoins? it’s because it is in their best interest.
a lot of crypto people are shocked by this, but if you understand how global power works it makes perfect sense.
the u.s. doesn’t just run on military strength…it runs on the dollar. for decades, the dollar has been america’s greatest weapon and is used to settle global trade, store reserves, and enforce sanctions.
but here’s the problem: that dominance is under threat. brics countries ( brazil, russia, india, china, saudi arabia ) and others are actively working to reduce their reliance on the dollar: they’re creating alternative payment systems, settling trade in local currencies, and are thinking of launching cbdcs to bypass u.s. banking rails.
stablecoins solve this problem for the u.s.
think about it..stablecoins like usdt and usdc spread dollar access to more places, faster, and with fewer restrictions than the traditional banking system.
someone in argentina, nigeria, or turkey can hold and transact in dollars without needing a u.s. bank account. this keeps the dollar’s network effects alive, even in places where governments want to de-dollarize.
and here’s the real plus: stablecoins move through crypto, which offers regulatory arbitrage. the u.s. government can’t control every blockchain transaction the way they can with swift or the fedwire system, but they can ensure that the most successful stablecoins are ultimately backed by u.s. treasuries. in other words, they let the crypto rails do the distribution while the u.s. still captures the economic benefit.
this isn’t some radical new idea! it’s just the next evolution of america’s long-standing strategy.
first, it was bretton woods, then the petrodollar system, and now stablecoins. they’ve always found ways to reinforce dollar hegemony, and this is just the latest tool.
so yeah, the u.s. is embracing stablecoins. not because they love crypto, but because they love the dollar.
where does that leave crypto itself? it means that value capture at the defi and infrastructure layer servicing stablecoins et al just received a premium. adjust accordingly: think of the plumbing needed to make it all happen and either build it or invest in it.
David Sacks presser takeaway
> last admin was super harsh on crypto
> we want to do the opposite of the last admin
> we don't know the rules yet
> the rules definitely won't be harsh
crime cycle confirmed
We just need one crypto ai project to emerge with real consumer utility to reignite the rally.
Then speculative value back to a 10/10.
No speculative value rn bc everything boring, repetitive & too theoretical.
It’s coming.
Pipeline is full.
