GAPS Board Meeting 3/18/19:
The school board voted to make up for the snow days by adding an extra half day at the end of the school year. Now school ends June 13th!
GAPS Board Meeting 2/25/19:
The search for the new Superintendent of schools continues!
Applications are being accepted, and the interview process (by a group of board/community members) will occur on April 3rd, 4th and 5th.
GAPS Board Meeting 2/11/19:
New school board reporter Caitlyn May of the Democrat Herald started today.
2 new members were approved onto the Bond Oversight Committee.
Board members approved a brand new CTE District Advisory Committee, details will be finalized at a later date.
GAPS Board Meeting 1/28:
For those unaware, it was confirmed there are tunnels underneath WAHS, MMS and CMS.
The board approved an ideal candidate profile for the new superintendent search.
After 25 years, Vice Chair Frank Bricker will not be running for spring re-election.

APPROVED:
The new elementary school in the Greater Albany Public Schools has been named:
Meadow Ridge Elementary
249 names were suggested, and the board members voted for the name during tonight’s board meeting.
The opening for the new school is scheduled for August 2019.
BREAKING:
The decision to changing the mascot has been made.
“The mascot is impacting learning,” said Tonja Everest, Acting Superintendent on South Albany High School’s controversial Rebel mascot during tonight’s regular board meeting.
Come eat at Panda Express (Albany Location) today from 5PM to 8PM!
Part of the proceeds will go to financing The Sentry Newspaper.
