Did The Simpsons predict the recent Hantavirus outbreak?
Verdict: No ❌
Season 23's ”A Totally Fun Thing Bart Will Never Do Again" shows a virus outbreak leading a cruise ship staying at sea. This was linked to the recent real-life outbreak which has resulted in 3 deaths so far.
Reposting because this has been making the rounds again. As things stand, both Mexico and Portugal remain in the tournament and could each other in the final if everything goes their way. However, this isn't, and never was, a prediction.
Did The Simpsons predict the 2026 World Cup final?
Verdict: No ❌
A few months ago, Season 9's 'The Cartridge Family' was credited with predicting which teams will play the next World Cup final as well as the location. The poster claimed the final will take place New Jersey.
However, there are some discrepancies. Bart used a movie clip to convince his fellow passengers of an outbreak. No actual outbreak occurs in the episode. The real ship remained at sea at first but then docked in the Canary Islands last week and all the passengers disembarked.
Did The Simpsons predict the recent Hantavirus outbreak?
Verdict: No ❌

However, the show has not predicted Trump getting killed by such an attack and video is more blatant misinformation.
It's important to be vigilant of any unsourced information on social media, especially with the pace things are often happening these days.
Well, it's been a while.
So, for what seems like the millionth time, claims that The Simpsons predicted Trump's death have been circulating. I'll be discussing two videos I've seen today, both of which are false. ❌
The second video claims Trump will be killed by an Iranian attack. Following the initial strikes by the US and Israel on Iran last weekend, Iran has been firing missiles and drones at countries across the Middle East where many countries house American bases.
As is typical these days, the videos show AI generated images. While the show has featured snow before (e.g. "Bart Gets an F" and "Mr. Plow"), it hasn't claimed that a severe weather event from 19th to 25th January will occur in either country.
Did The Simpsons predict major snowstorms for the UK and USA this month?
Verdict: No ❌
Several videos have claimed that both countries will experience extreme cold and heavy snowfall as foretold by the show. I'm not a weather forecaster, but the show has shown no such scenario.
Where do I even begin with this? What is the obsession with The Simpsons supposedly predicting Trump's death? The days of that doctored coffin image feel long gone.
I've also just seen a TikTok video claiming the show predicted some acid rainstorm in the UK next year. 😮💨
This says it all really. Making fake/questionable Simpsons predictions used to take at least some effort. With AI being this accessible, people are creating "predictions" whenever something big happens. It's just exhausting at this point.
Oh, it's another No verdict, I guess.
Trump was diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) last month and there has been speculation around his health in recent weeks, resulting in this supposed prediction gaining traction. However, the video features AI-generated images and no such episode exists.
Did The Simpsons predict that Donald Trump will die this month?
Verdict: No
Recently, a video was circulating claiming that the show predicted that the US president would die by the end of the month due to a "severe chest illness” in a "forgotten episode'.
The images allegedly featuring Simpsonised versions of Byron and Cabot are likely AI generated and haven't appeared in the show at all.
Anyway, that's another prediction debunked. Will likely tackle that whole Labubu stuff soon. 😮💨
Did The Simpsons predict the Andy Byron-Kristin Cabot scandal?
Verdict: No 🙂↔️
Recently, the Astronomer CEO and head of HR were pictured together at a Coldplay concert. Claims of another Simpsons prediction arose soon after but came with many flaws.
The picture above was claimed to come from a Season 28 episode called 'Kiss Kiss' where Marge and Homer appear on a kiss cam at a baseball match. This does happen in the show, but in the Season 17 episode 'Marge and Homer Turn a Couple Play'. There is no such Season 28 episode.
The elephant in the room here is the fact that no such episode exists. A similar claim was also made for the 30th May which came and went without any major issues regarding electricity. I doubt this will be the last time this "prediction" appears and it's coming round regularly.
Did The Simpsons predict a total blackout on the 30th June?
Verdict: No ❌❌❌
Videos discussing this prediction have been circulating on TikTok. They mention a 1998 episode called "The Last Day of Springfield" (which doesn't actually exist) as the source.
While comparisons can be made in good humour, this is far from a legitimate prediction. Also, it's odd for a "prediction" to not use any AI images in 2025. Many of the predictions I've covered here this year have involved them to some degree.
Did the Simpsons predict Trump's "Golden Dome" plan?
Verdict: Not really
After US President Trump announced the planned missile defence system, people online drew comparisons between it and the plot of "The Simpsons Movie" which sees Springfield covered with a giant dome.
The key difference is the purpose. Springfield is encased due to severe pollution levels while the "Golden Dome" is for protecting the USA in the event of an attack. And obviously, this system won't actually result in America being sealed by a dome. It's just a name.
