They’ve reduced Dr. B.R. Ambedkar to just one word — reservation. That’s all they remember him for. That’s all they want him to be.

A checkbox.
A category.
A quota.

But Ambedkar wasn’t just a voice for the Scheduled Castes. He was one of the greatest minds this country ever produced — and not just for India, for humanity.

This is the man who drafted the Indian Constitution despite facing caste abuse from the very lawmakers around him.
This is the man who proposed the idea of the Reserve Bank of India even before independence — based on the Hilton Young Commission report.

He gave India its Finance Commission model, its Labour Ministry, and helped institutionalize the 8-hour workday, equal pay, and maternity benefits.

He fought for women’s rights with the Hindu Code Bill, when even the so-called progressives weren’t ready to listen.

He laid the foundation for irrigation and water policy through the Central Water Commission and river valley projects.

He was the one who said, “Religion must be a matter of principle, not convenience.”

But today, he is dragged into every shouting match just to tick a caste box. Used and discarded. Worshipped on posters, forgotten in practice.

I’m not here to deny caste atrocities. They do exist. But I’m also tired of seeing Ambedkar being remembered only during elections, only by people who haven’t read a single page of what he actually wrote.

Ambedkar never wanted to be a token. And he definitely didn’t fight just to be your annual speech reference.

He was a revolutionary.
An architect.
A nation-builder.
A moral compass.

And no matter how hard you try, you cannot fit that kind of greatness into a reservation column.

Cremation as a practice is mentioned in the Rig Veda, which dates to around 1500 BCE or earlier, placing it in the Vedic period. It was part of the Śrauta rituals where fire (Agni) was believed to carry the soul to the next world. The verse “Agni, carry this man to the world of the ancestors” (Rig Veda 10.16) is a direct reference.

So yes, Harappan and Keeladi cultures buried their dead, but the Vedic people practiced cremation. These were likely distinct cultural groups with different worldviews and funerary customs.

The why is philosophical: in Vedic thought, cremation symbolized release of the soul (ātman) from the physical body, helping it transition to pitṛloka (ancestral realm) or toward rebirth.

Then by that logic, every mythological story across time and culture must be judged by 21st century legal standards? Should we also say Lord Krishna committed cattle theft because he took butter as a child? Or that Shiva practiced polygamy?

You’re not applying logic. You’re applying selective moral outrage to something you never intended to understand. These are stories from an entirely different cosmic and dharmic framework, not historical news reports from 2024.

People keep sharing this without context. The reason India has such a low percentage isn’t because people are avoiding taxes. Most Indians earn below the basic exemption limit, and a huge part of the economy is informal. In countries like France or the UK, even small incomes are taxed or automatically deducted from salaries, so almost everyone shows up in the system. It’s a structural difference, not a moral one. Comparing just the numbers without that context is misleading.

Aye boss, don’t just throw Ambedkar’s name around like WhatsApp forwards without even reading properly what he actually meant.

He didn’t say Buddhism is the only good religion or something like that to bash Hinduism or support your usual anti-Hindu drama. He said that in a specific context, when comparing Buddhism with Communism. That’s all. It was never some Hinduism vs Buddhism vs Islam kind of debate.

Ambedkar felt that Buddhism had the right moral values and structure to give a proper reply to Communism, which was turning violent at that time. That doesn’t mean he was using it to attack any other religion.

And by the way, Ambedkar criticised many religions at different times, not just Hinduism. He pointed out flaws in Islam, Christianity and even in Communism itself. But some of you fellows just pick one line, remove the full context, and start shouting against Hinduism like it’s your personal hobby.

At least open a proper book or read his full speeches before posting tweets using his name. That man was a serious thinker, not some tool for your online timepass.

They already have access to IITs and top colleges with full support. Even then, they keep blaming the system instead of taking responsibility.

At some point, you have to stop talking about the past and start proving yourself. Success doesn’t come from sympathy, it comes from effort.
