Wiping out 50% of living creatures doesn't solve resource scarcity, it just resets population growth by about 50 to 70 years. Human population on Earth doubled between 1970 and 2020. With the Infinity Gauntlet's infinite power, he could have doubled resources, created clean energy, or altered consumption biology.
