It clogs the water intake valves which cuts the engine off, this is a nuisance because they have to stop and clean all of the valves.

The Sargassum also affects the fishermen in major ways .

-It is so thick that people are unable to swim in it because it is so heavy that it weighs you down, resulting in drowning.

- It produces toxins that leaves a black film on peoples houses, this causes locals to have to use their income to repair their houses often

-if the turtles are even able to lay their eggs, once they are ready to hatch most of the hatch-lings get caught in the seaweed and die

-Turtles are unable to get onto the beach, or even through all of the seaweed, to the sand in order to dig a nest to lay their eggs

The marine life is being affected in many different ways
-it limits the mobility larger animals, such as sharks, have in the ocean

The invasion of Sargassum is affecting the island in three major ways: through the marine life, locals and the tourist

The sargassum seaweed is approaching our island from its location called the Sargasso sea.
