It's a shame that Bawnie Oulton was not one of the Newfoundland artists to cut a solo record in the '70s. I constantly revisit this 1978 gem of Oulton delivering a smokey Nico-esque rendition of "These Days" by Jackson Browne. Footage filmed in St. John's for CBC's Kinda Kountry
@JudyChucky I believe those would have been the final years of the Capitol! Jaws would have been '75, and the Capitol closed up by '77. What I wouldn't give to have another downtown theater.
Crowd lined up for The Exorcist at the Capitol Theatre in St. John's in July 1974. There are many tales of folks fainting in the theatre during these screenings. Thanks to Terry Combden for uploading this gem.
Thanks to Dave Andrea for taking this photo, and for uploading a new scan to replace the old pixelated version that has been floating around on wrestling forums for many years.
North Sydney Forum, 1978: "Macho Man" Randy Savage and his father Angelo Poffo, who is under a mask as The Carpet Bagger. This was during the Poffo family's stint with Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling.
Mundy Pond by's in Placentia Junction, early 1970s. Photo by Brian Mallard. Left to right: Gord Bradley, Joe Peddle, Sid Power, Ted Young, and John "Fox" Power.
Thanks to Brian Mallard for this absolute gem. Better than any staged beer ad that I've ever seen.
Every #nlwx update: rain or freezing drizzle will develop, changing to heavy snow which will taper to light flurries which will change to freezing rain or maybe drizzle which will go back to snow. Heavy wet snow, light drizzle, high winds, low cut off. 5-65cm expected somewhere.
Fogo-A-GoGo Discothรจque, 1972: "Swing With the Beautiful People, Dance on the Steel Floor to Fantastic Dancing Lites". Once upon a time on Water Street at Baird's Cove in St. John's.
In 1985, a rap group formed in Long Island called Public Enemy... but a few months before, a punk band in Newfoundland formed under the same name. Check out a rare demo track:

Some blown out 2007 footage of Gord Downie & The Sadies covering Iggy & The Stooges for the Horseshoe Tavern's 60th celebration in TO. In memory of Gord and Dallas Good. All credit to Raymi Lauren's YouTube channel for capturing and uploading this aging gem some 16 years ago.
Packing up the last pre-orders of these bad b'ys! These sold out QUICK (I didn't even get one for myself). Did you miss out? We are thinking about a very small second run, shoot me a DM if you are interested!
