Groundhog Day reminds me a lot of the movie This Is the End. Both require the protagonists to grow as humans in order to escape the sci-fi dilemmas they have been trapped in. They are stuck for a reason, and a greater being desires to teach them a lesson #Laylit18

The Truman Show makes one question the most simple things in life. It serves as a reminder to ask thought provoking questions, and question social norms. It urges people to think profound and not to accept everything at the surface. #Laylit18

It’s so intriguing to see the many ways that Christof manipulates Truman. For example, in order to prevent his escape, he’s brainwashed Truman into being scared of water and into thinking that there’s no good reason to leave Sea Haven. Some cynical stuff son. #Laylit18

Marlon seems to be the character who most influences Truman the most. Always bringing the pack of brews, he holds the most trust of Truman’s and usually is able to get through to him. However, by the end, Truman knows that Marlon’s frequent visits are fishy #Laylit18

The prosecutor will never understand Meursault. He is trying to prove that Meursault is deranged and heartless, but fails to realize that he is just different. His outlook on life is much different than the prosecutors, and this causes strife. #Laylit18

Meursault interprets the story from his room much differently than what a typical person might think. His takeaway is much more cold and the lesson he gets from it is just odd. #Laylit18

The magistrate cannot accept Meursault’s lack of faith in religion. He becomes increasingly flustered and finds it necessary to impose his beliefs on Meursault. His character is a striking contrast to the reserved Meursault #Laylit18

When Meursault kills the Arab, there is little effect on him. To him, this is just life and another irrelevant event that hasn’t threatened his own existence. While to most murdering would be an impactful experience, it has little bearing on his conscious. #laylit18

Again, heat seams to emphasize a tense and emotional setting. Like the funeral, the beach scene is greatly dramatized by the presence of this grueling heat. #Laylit18

At first, Meursault’s lack of enthusiasm at the opportunity to work in Paris seems shocking. Nevertheless, as the reader, one must take a step back and understand the way he thinks. To him, it wouldn’t make sense to change his life. After all, he is alive and well. #Laylit18
