I don’t think Paralives is boring. I think it just feels simple right now. It’s still in Early Access, with more interactions, weather, & improvements on the way. With any life sim, the fun comes from the stories & goals you create for yourself. If you want a challenge, make one.
Paralives automatically including 8 life stages in early access is telling me everything I need to know about the devs. Babies, toddlers, children, preteens, teenagers, young adults, older adults, and elders. The lore and delulu stories that are about to be told. I’m excited
One thing Paralives absolutely nailed already? Representation. & they’re still only in early access. Prosthetics, hearing aids, hair coverings, detailed hair customization, asymmetrical piercings ?! The devs said we are taking notes on EVERYTHING.

The Sims team definitely should’ve stuck with simlish & the original art style of the game. The SpongeBob collab looks completely out of place 😅 It looks like an ad. I do like the colors, but they should’ve kept in the world of The Sims, maybe something inspired by SpongeBob….
I do think the livestream & play testing should’ve happened before announcing the early access date.😅 That would’ve taken pressure off the Paralives devs. With all the hype & comparisons, it was too risky putting just that out. But the base of the game has a lot of potential.
So after watching the Paralives live stream, to me, the game isn’t worth $40 to me in its current early access state. Delaying was honestly smart. Releasing earlier would’ve caused a lot more backlash. There’s still a lot missing, but to be fair they were transparent about it.
This might be an unpopular opinion, but I think another reason Paralives pushed back its release date was because of the pressure on the devs. A lot of simmers were calling it “the Sims killer” & nitpicking at every detail which put all eyes & a lot of expectations on the team.
