Appreciate you and our time on the show together, Bri π
We still plan on recording a final ep. Between James' job search/wedding planning + Chris dealing w/a family issue, we've not been able to link up in-person for the finale.
We have a lot planned for it tho so stay tuned!
Caught up with my #wnbapodcasts queue. Sad to listen to the ep w/the realization it could be the last ππ₯Ί
#SkyhookGuys were a vital, important part of the #Skytown fandom/Sky fans & their hard work will be missed. Their efforts never forgotten π₯Ή All love to James & Chris π«Άπ½
Thanks for everything, Skytown ππ

2 years ago today the Chicago Sky won the 2021 WNBA championship 3-1 over the Phoenix Mercury!
Finals MVP Kahleah Copper led the way with 17.0 PPG and 5.5 RPG on 50.0% shooting from the field.
INBOX: Sky officially announce Teresa Weatherspoon as head coach.
The Sky will hold a press conference on October 24 at 11 a.m. CT to formally introduce her.
Basketball Hall of Famer Teresa Weatherspoon is finalizing a deal to become the new head coach of the WNBAβs Chicago Sky, league sources tell @TheAthletic@Stadium. Weatherspoon β one of best players in WNBA history β spent the past four years as a Pelicans assistant coach.
Two questions will define Sky's offseason:
Who will be head coach?
Who will be general manager?
Teresa Weatherspoon is a leading candidate for the coaching job + according to multiple league sources, is in contract negotiations with the Sky.

Elizabeth Williams (rightfully) gets the second team nod here.
Her 2023 season:
-1st in the W in blocks at the rim (per PBP Stats)
-4th in overall blocks
-4.1 block percentage (ranked in the 91st percentile per @herhoopstats)
-averaged a career-high 1.3 steals per game

While the Sky released the Emre Vatansever news an hour or so after we finished (guys, we have to coordinate on these things), we still dove all the way into the offseason issues! Listen in! #skytown
@James_M_Kay@kwandarykitten Note: this episode was recorded prior to the announcement that Emre Vatansever will not return to the Sky as its head coach/general manager.
We didn't dive into the head coach search as much anyway since we discussed that on the previous episode.

Marina Mabrey just wrapped up a very candid exit interview, which gave a lot of insight into a long checklist of improvements she hopes to make ahead of her second year with the Chicago Sky.
Thought this was interesting from her on improving to absorb physicality:
The Skyβs season on the floor was a disappointment.
However, they:
1) did enough to convince Kahleah Copper to stay for two more seasons.
2) added to their ownership group. 3) made progress in adding more resources/sponsors
They are taking the right steps forward.
