@treblemaker909 I have loved this bi/pan battle that has been happening the last few years in FULL FORCE. (Personally I’m in the “‘bi’ indicates two,” camp.) it’s funniest because neither identity is inherently opposed to the other, but ppl wanna conflate what each one means??
@kweerious @WFTDA Thanks for this! I’m definitely interested in the very practical ways that this is being done, particularly in regards to transparency and accessibility.
Happy to see quick and thoughtful movement on this on behalf of @WFTDA.
A few things to consider:
1) How helpful is a platform like Twitter, with limited characters, in hosting such a nuanced conversation?
2) Who’s leading the conversation and whose voices are being centered?
Please take the time to read this statement from the Executive Director and Board of Directors of the WFTDA, and join us for an #AskWFTDA AMA on this topic on the @WFTDA Twitter profile on July 4, 2019, at 5:00 PM EDT.

Why does professionalism always have to mean we dampen our sense of humanity and care toward one another? IMO true “professionalism” is leading with values that you can enact in real ways.
The fact that this continues to be a problem is ridiculous. I’ve experienced this & also at one tourney last year had a ref bring me glasses that my POC teammate was wearing. When he handed me her glasses I said to him, these are not mine but the other black skater on my team.
Let’s all take a moment to appreciate the legacy of badass black skaters on @ATLRollerDerby and the black excellence that gets showcased (and often overlooked) season after season. #ECDX2019#derbytwitter
@guccimaim1017@ATLRollerDerby I should say, too, what adds to the nuance is the ways that refs tend not to get a lot of recognition and appreciation, and I wonder how much that plays into it being difficult to take in that feedback. (Not an excuse, but a dynamic to be noted?)
