An 8-kilometre Posidonia oceanica meadow, more than 100,000 years old, stretches from Es Freus to Ses Salines. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is responsible for the crystal-clear turquoise waters that make this one of the Mediterranean’s finest diving destinations, and provides a home for seahorses, gilthead seabream and Mediterranean rainbow wrasse, which grow protected among its leaves. 🐟

But inappropriate anchoring threatens this treasure every summer. That is why, thanks to the Sustainable Tourism Tax, information buoys, a helpline for boaters, signage in ports and a badge for vessels that respect Posidonia have been introduced. ⚓

Anchoring with care is also a way of enjoying the sea. 💙
