@vatnik_destruct@DomIsStillBored DMs, though I bet once the next Juodas Vanagas exercises happen/any large scale exercises happen, we may cross paths for sure.
@Serellan I give it a few months before they start adding the most random operators or skins imaginable that do not fit in with that aesthetic unfortunately, since they care more about profits then anything else.
@KrisVectors@Southwood_ Eh, unfortunately as someone who's used one in the field, its not that great. Its neat but i'd prefer to have an M16, M4 or any AR platform over it for sure.
Today we remember Gintaras Žagunis the first Lithuanian border officer killed in the line of duty after the restoration of independence. A member of the Lithuanian Riflemen’s Union, he was also among the defenders of the Parliament during the January Events, when thousands stood unarmed against Soviet aggression to protect Lithuania’s freedom. On May 19, 1991, Žagunis was murdered by Soviet OMON forces at the Krakūnai border post while defending Lithuania’s newly restored state during a time when our borders, sovereignty, and independence were still under attack. Amžina pagarba ir atminimas Gintarui Žaguniui. 🇱🇹
@roninmercllc@sean_gause And even in Europe for example, in my home country. Batons are specifically only for home defence as far as im aware. Tasers and pepper spray are legal and easy to get here and are the more optimal option for self defense at least. (legality and practicality wise.)
The Soviets feared the Lithuanian Riflemen’s Union not because it had tanks or massive armies, but because it had organized citizens. Teachers. Farmers. Workers. Students. When the USSR occupied Lithuania in 1940, the Šauliai were banned almost immediately. Members were arrested, deported, and forced underground.
But many former Riflemen later became the backbone of Lithuanian resistance and partisan networks.
They already knew:
who could hide weapons,
which forests were safest,
who could be trusted,
and how to organize locally.
Some families hid Šauliai badges, flags, and documents for 50 years during Soviet occupation.
